The First Board Meeting of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CEFENI) was held on 03rd of July 2019 at Business Administration Board Room, Faculty of Management Studies and Commerce, the University of Sri Jayewardenepura with the participation of the Mr. R. N. Weerasinghe (Chairman of the CEFENI), Dr. U. Anura Kumara (Dean, Faculty of Management
Studies and Commerce) , Mr. M.V.S.S. Udayanga (Head, Department of Entrepreneurship and Director of Administration), Mr. C.M.C.J. B. Gajanayake (Director of Finance), Dr. P.J. Kumarasinghe (Director), Dr. Premasiri Gamage (Director), Mr. Sudheera Jayerathne (Director), Mr. Thushra Chandana (Director), Ms. H.K.G.S. Ranasinghe (Directress), Ms. D.H.B.Y. Ranasinghe (Directress), Ms. M.P.S.R. Perera (Directress), Ms. P.T.D. Liyanage (Directress).
First of all, the Chairman of the CEFENI, Mr. R. N. Weerasinghe welcomed all the gathering and he introduced the Board of Directors of CEFENI to the audience. Then, Chairman of the CEFENI stated the main purposes and objectives of the CEFENI and the accomplishments of CEFENI with approvals obtained from the University and the Ministry of Financial Planning.
Furthermore, he explained the business functions, governing body, beneficiaries, and stakeholders, expected outputs of CEFENI, and especially Mr. R. N. Weerasinghe clearly mentioned about the existing financial status of this organization such as the government and university budget allocation for the establishment the CEFENI in the short and long term.
Thereafter, the other board directors also highlighted the importance of this establishment and discussed the plan for locating CEFENI in the new rented building where No. 218/1, High-Level Road, Maharagama. There were different suggestions for alternative ways to purchase essential furniture and equipment to function CEFENI. Finally, the First Board Meeting of CEFENI was ended up with the new ideas and the lots of future plans with utmost enthusiasm to accomplish this national target towards establishing an entrepreneurial culture in the country.
